Our Mission

Our mission is healing, supporting, strengthening & empowering women whose lives have been impacted by family and domestic violence by giving them pathways to becoming strong, safe women with brighter futures for themselves and their children.

Our journey so far…

Safe Woman Safe Family was founded as a not-for-profit organisation in January, 2018. Irene and Tanya, the founders, held the launch event in Mandurah on June 8th, 2018; commenced gathering and training a team of women dedicated to becoming support staff and peer mentors.

In the middle of 2018, discussions began with the Shire of Murray for provision of a house in Pinjarra, Western Australia, which could be converted for use to become our first Safe Woman Safe Family Centre. In August 2018, a community morning tea was held in Pinjarra to share what would be offered & our future plans for our new centre.

In January 2019, we received the keys! Shortly after, planning for building changes commenced to ensure full disability access. A “Stronger Communities Grant” was received through our local MP, Andrew Hastie to fund the re-vamp & set-up. Our official opening event was on the 26th of April, 2019. We are incredibly thankful to our team of volunteers and donations received to help us create the beautiful space we now call our Safe Woman Safe Family Murray Centre, which is now in full operation (photos can be viewed in the gallery).
